Sony becomes the latest company to try and invent a new category of gadgets. After the Apple iPad, you would think the other companies would take some time to deepen their understanding of these things but it seems like Sony will have none of that. This device is called Dash and I completely agree with Walt Mossberg when he says that this like a photo frame on steroids. However, it does have more usefulness than an internet enabled photo frame.

What you read in the title is completely true folks. Sony is actually making a computing device that is lower than the $300 mark. Gosh, I knew the company was desperate but this really proves it. They want to best the Kindle in the e-Reader market, they want to build iPad competing devices, they want make iPhone-killer smartphones and now they want to compete with Asus’ Eee PC’s! This might get ugly — I don’t think Sony even remembers how to make and sell cheap devices successfully.

Oh Sony, we like you for making Vaios. We really do. And we also think that your eReaders are really cool and all. But Apple has the best tablet of all times and we just think are acting a bit too ‘me too!’ to churn out something really useful.
So Sony CEO Nobuyuki Oneda said at a Press Conference in Tokyo recently that they were interested in what Apple is trying to do with its latest product — the iPad. He said that Sony would like to be active in that market and that means everything that the iPad is doing. But there’s a tiny little problem with that and Oneda knows it.
