You know, ever since Apple released its first ‘i’ product, the path for a lot of brand names starting with ‘i’ was paved in stone. But that didn’t turn out so good for Apple because a lot of other companies felt like it was a great way to name their products and hence they started using the ‘i’ prefix.
Many ‘i’ jokes later, we had the iPhone which faced trademark heat in multiple areas in the world. But since Apple cannot give up its penchant for naming devices generically with the ‘i’ prefix attached, it has run into trademark trouble once again with the iPad. After Fujitsu, it is turn for a French-Italian company called STMicroElectronics. Looks like they spent a lot of sleepless nights coming up with that name.

Sick of tablet news already? Well, you need harden up because the world is currently in the mood for them and Apple is not going to be spared its fair share in the blame. A pretty hefty share at that.
Whilst you were drooling/hating/scratching your head at the iPad, there was a new company that was getting ready to announce its own tablets. This is back where Apple gets its stuff made — China and the company hails from Nanjing. It is called Motom and it currently seems to have 3 separate tablet devices in offer.

Oh Sony, we like you for making Vaios. We really do. And we also think that your eReaders are really cool and all. But Apple has the best tablet of all times and we just think are acting a bit too ‘me too!’ to churn out something really useful.
So Sony CEO Nobuyuki Oneda said at a Press Conference in Tokyo recently that they were interested in what Apple is trying to do with its latest product — the iPad. He said that Sony would like to be active in that market and that means everything that the iPad is doing. But there’s a tiny little problem with that and Oneda knows it.

So there was this tablet device called the iTablet much before the Apple tablet rumors reached fever pitch. It was made by Amtek and it has been around for quite some time you see. Now, there’s this company in the UK called X2, who are drawing your attention to something called the iTablet. The connection? It’s the same friggin’ device. Dare we ask for more creativity in the industry?

You know when Apple refuses to comment on those bleeding obvious things that everyone’s pretty sure that they are going to (have to) do? Well, they are doing it again. This time it is the whole camera thing on the iPad. As in the lack of any sort of a camera. So it seems like that people who have inspected the hardware components of the iPad and developers who have been using the SDK, are all coming up with what they think are evidences of a planned camera that was probably killed at the last moment. No foul play is suspected, techies speculate cost being the primary motivation.

So as it turns out — the CrunchPad turned JooJoo tablet not only made it to the final phase of development, they are actually going to manufacture and launch the damn thing! Now that’s not half bad for a device that has been crowd-sourced, (allegedly) stolen and rebranded multiple times over. It is supposed to be drowning in litigation right now but for some reason, a lawyer as good as Arrington failed to protect what he sees as TechCrunch’s intellectual property and now it is Chandra and his company Fusion Garage (a pretty new company) who are trying to manufacture and sell this thing.

There’s a reason why there are rumors about tablet makers now going back to the drawing board before releasing their own versions of a tablet device. A lot of small companies and startups have already launched or announced their tablets but the larger companies have barely announced theirs and they are not really showing it to anybody, more so after the iPad was released.

But hey, 3 months from now, you will forget about how bad that name is just like you don’t really care that the iPod is all that good a name either. But you have questions, oh yes you do! So many that you are bothered to ask them all to one person and too lazy to find out on your own. Well, consider your prayers answered because this here is an iPad FAQ! Yep, all your iPad questions answered in one single place, single post, etc.! enjoy!

It is Monday again, which means blink-and-you-miss Sunday is over already. Back in the world of tech, things have been really busy. Just after a big week full of Apple products and (glowing) Apple financial reports, the rumors are back again. Plus, Samsung has quietly launched their second Android phone in Russia (of all places). This time I have some iPhone apps to talk about as well.
Get over to the other side and start catching up.
