What you read in the title is completely true folks. Sony is actually making a computing device that is lower than the $300 mark. Gosh, I knew the company was desperate but this really proves it. They want to best the Kindle in the e-Reader market, they want to build iPad competing devices, they want make iPhone-killer smartphones and now they want to compete with Asus’ Eee PC’s! This might get ugly — I don’t think Sony even remembers how to make and sell cheap devices successfully.

Well, we would really like to think so but GeekBench is hardly a place where you verify things and use it as a proof. However, if these are indeed the benchmark results of a new built of MacBook Pros, they are pretty darn good! And besides, the MacBook Pros are quite overdue for a upgrade anyway. I am talking about the 15 inch and 17 inch models of course. And if this is it, boy are we in for a treat.

This is supposed to be the new model because the internal naming of 6,1 for a MacBook Pro doesn’t exist yet. This signifies a major shift in the whole line up.

Look what we have here! A slide that seems to be from some internal meeting at T-Mobile showing off what is essentially the carrier’s internal roadmap of what handsets they will offer through the first quarter of 2010. Do you notice something?

Yeah, me too. It’s a really boringly done slide. Someone should teach them about putting some excitement into PowerPoint presentations. However, the content of the slide kinda makes up for its drab nature. I seem to spy three really interesting phones that are coming up next month.

Now that the excitement around the iPad is settling down and people are passing their final verdicts before they actually get to touch one for real, there is renewed interest in what the new iPhone might bring to the fray. Whilst there are a lot of speculations as to what might be coming for us, there are certain things I believe Apple needs to do if they want to hold on to their lead in the innovation and appeal department. Now this could be a little confusing for those with a short attention span but please bear with me through the next description. So some folks over at Alacatel were brainstorming for a new smartphone. A lot of curses flew to Apple, HTC, Motorola, etc. for stealing all the ideas. Then someone realized that the Palm Pre was fading from public memory, so why not make one like that? I am sure they will forget about the strange sense of deja vu when they see that it runs Android and not the Web OS. Besides, it’s not like they are going to make it look good or anything. And they should also add some sorely missed buttons while they are at it. And tada! The Alcatel OT980 was born!

Last year when Apple received a lot of enthusiastic buyers for their 27″ iMac models, it soon disappointed them with the discovery of a serious problem in the displays of the 27inch iMac displays. The display has a flickering issue which was put down to Flash at that point. Apple acknowledged the problem at that ponint and issued a fix that was to cure this. However, that did not work and the problem persists. Now for some more bad news.

It is has been as well kept a secret as the Nexus One has been a badly kept one. So Valleywag at Gawker had this Scavenger Hunt game you see, where they offered up to $100,000 in cold hard cash for pictures, videos or hands on time with the rumored and official unconfirmed Apple Tablet. So what do you think happened next? They got slapped with a Cease & Desist notice very soon from Apple’s legal reps. Now why would they bother protecting something that doesn’t exists? Q.E.D — it definitely does exist! Yay!
