Even though there hasn’t been an official announcement for the product, The chip is currently shipping from online stores. It is also available for people living in the UK to order but it will depend on whether their local stores have received stocks or not.

And you thought that the PC industry had one foot in the grave. Intel has just had the best quarter in the 42 years in which it has existed. They generated US$10.2 billion in revenue and they earned US$2.9 billion. If Intel is doing this well, I think we have reconsider our verdict about the PC industry dying and all.

Intel is looking into Google’s newly released WebM format and considering adding hardware acceleration for the format on its specialized Atom chip. WebM is a new video format released by Google, which is based on the VP8 codec. Intel is one of the partners who are working with Google to bring about the Google TV platform to the world and the WebM format is meant especially for that platform.

Come June, we will be witnessing a positive flood of netbooks boasting dual-core Intel Atom processors. According to market sources, all the major companies are preparing to launch dual-core Atom-based netbooks in June and that includes the likes of Dell, Lenovo, HP and Asus. The HP TouchSmart TM2 is a convertible 12.1″ tablet notebook from HP and word on the streets is that it is now standing in line for a processor upgrade. The upgrade is to include newer Intel chips in the form of Core i5 and Core i7. Now even though nothing’s is official about this deal, there’s no reason to think that this cannot happen. Here’s more news from the Intel side of the world. They have been holding their Developers Forum event in Beijing and took the opportunity to give the first live demoes of the MeeGo mobile OS. For those of you with poor memory, let me remind you that this is a joint venture between Nokia and Intel, which was announced at this year’s MWC (Mobile World Congress). Both companies dropped further development of their own mobile OS’ (Moblin and Maemo 5) and created a common platform instead.
