It has recently been unearthed that Apple has been granted a patent in Europe for an all-in-one desktop computer that can switch between mouse/keyboard and touch inputs. This patent confirms long standing rumors that Apple is moving towards a touch-based future for the flagship line of lifestyle desktop computer — the iMac.

For the past two years, worldwide desktop PC sales have sagged so badly that they have had negative growth for that period. This is set to change this year and according to analysts, it is mainly because of Apple’s iMac desktops.

For a long time now, actually ever since Apple released the latest iMacs, the largest of the crop have been plagued by display issues. There were flickers and there were tinting issues where displays simply started look like they have Jaundice. Apple of course was tight-lipped about the whole thing and a lot of speculations were flying around. But now it seems like the company is confident enough to issue one of its rare public statements that admit to a fault.

Display problems on the new 27″ iMacs have been plaguing Apple ever since the first wave of orders were shipped. Some of the displays turn a yellowish tint, some of the them flicker and some apparently are plagued by both. Apple did ship a software update that was supposed to fix the problem but it did not fix the problems for everybody, especially the yellow tint that is possibly a manufacturing defect. Now Apple has another update out that has cured the problem for most people except a handful of people who are still complaining. And if certain news sources are to be believed, help is not coming any time soon.

Much of Apple’s success as a manufacturer of avant-garde electronic appliances and gadgets depends on its Macintosh series of personal computers. Over the years The Macintosh based laptops and all-in-one iMacs have got a number of revamps. Apple also introduced Mac Mini, a very portable Macintosh system without any display, mouse and keyboard a few years back. However, the Mac Mini series has not received as many numbers of upgrades as its more expensive desktop and laptop counterparts. Apple gave the Mac Mini series a much needed upgrade along with the iMac and MacBook series recently.

It is Saturday again, time for the weekend mood to set in and to help you along the way we have this freshly baked Apple round-up just for you. Apple has had a great week. Things went uphill from the very start when they reported their (through the roof) Q3 earnings and then we had the roster of new Macs to savour.
The rest of the week has been pretty small compared to those two things but they have been large enough to carry us through the entire week. And make no mistakes, we will still be hearing about the new Macs two weeks down the line and may be more.
Get to the other side for your piece of this delicious pie.

Here they are, just as the rumor mills promised us. Okay, not exactly as they had promised us. Still no Blu-ray but we do have a new quad core iMac, a (sub) 1k MacBook, updated Mac Minis and the whole new Magic Mouse that replaces the Mighty Mouse. They lost the trademark anyway. Head over to the other side for the full spiel on the new Macs.
