The term ‘desktop replacement’ has been around for quite some time now but there has been a serious gap in the category for those professionals who want a (comparatively) mobile solution that will allow them to work uncrippled. Visual artists have faced this problem the most since visual processing is very demanding and requires a selection of features that are not really required by mainstream users. Even though it is meant to be a business notebook, with the Dell Precision M4500 it looks the age of the mobile visual artist is finally, erm, coming of age? Read on for all the juicy details.

Dell is apparently making more tablets. I cannot think of a situation where that will be productive or useful but it is important news nonetheless, so I’ma let you have it.
So we’ve all been hearing about the Dell Mini 5 right? Yeah, it is that MID that is caught in between being to big to be a phone and too damn small to be a proper modern tablet. It is just Dell’s feel good device — we made one! And now it is about to get siblings. Yay?

Asus probably did not have an inkling as to how much their new line of products will affect the industry when they introduced the netbook. Rather, they reintroduced it. The concept was already there and earlier attempts had been made at it. But when Asus introduced it, the time was just right. The technology for it was just emerging and soon it became apparent that the Atom will rule this new segment in the market – netbooks.
Netbooks marked a decisive shift in the market in quite a few significant ways. First of all, computer makers actually started working on smaller and cheaper models instead of bigger and more expensive ones. Besides, the recession had already started making its presence felt, so models like these really made sense. And the greatest impact was where it mattered the most – on the consumers.

The laptops with power saving ULV processors are becoming increasingly popular with a section of the users. That explains why the major computer manufacturers like HP, Asus and Dell have started making ultraportable laptops with power saving CPUs. Dell’s latest Inspiron i1470-3282CRD is one such model that emphasizes on battery life more than performance.

If you have been keeping an eye on the news, you will see that the netbook world is currently full of mainly two things – Android and Chrome OS. Google has officially taken over the high portability, low performance segment and made it into a stripped down wonderland of speedy booting goodness. That is of course the Chrome OS. The Android just makes for a great experience as a whole on something that is too small ‘full’ OS’ but large enough to be out of sync with smartphones.
