Lenovo has updates its notebook offerings with two new G series models — the G445 and the G555. These models are imbued with the powers of the latest products from the house of AMD. That of course means that they are pretty fast and well equipped. There isn’t much known about them yet, as Lenovo did not mention much in the press release that it sent out. But as is usual with these things, the press release has enough to tantalize us.

The battle between the top two Graphics card makers, AMD and Nvidia became rather interesting in the last few months. Despite several efforts by AMD, its products failed to topple the Nvidia GTX 295, the performance king of GPUs. However, the industry insiders were hopeful about its much hyped Hemlock chip will be able to produce a winner. At last it seems that AMD has come up with a winning product that will give Nvidia a run for its money. It recently announced the availability of the Radeon HD 5970. As of now, it is the fastest graphics card running on a solo GPU. It is among the few GPUs in the market that supports Microsoft’s latest DirectX 11 technology.

Looks like I should start a weekly laptop round up as well. But then again, ‘tis the season to be merry fast about bringing out your products before the shopping fever hits. And the flavor of the year this time is of course budget products. Thankfully that is not true for the entire world. In fact, the east doing pretty well for itself, as is evident from all the products coming out of there. Get to the other side for the beastly new Toshiba Qosmio G60, a $400 notebook (NOT netbook) from Compaq and more.
