HP Probook 4310s Review: Bulky but Good For Business
The HP Probook 4310s is aimed at the mid range market where people do not want to go all out on a portable but also need to be able to move around with something that does the basic things well. So here we have something that will help the office worker to take the occasional break or the blogger like me to work while away from his workstation from time to time. In being a mid-range offering, it is also compromise between business and average consumer features. On the whole it is not too light a portable, weighing in at about 4.6 pounds. Despite that, it is manageable enough to be carried around inside a standard sized laptop bag.
At about $800, this laptop is just right for those who want a business solution but do not want to go for the high-end ones from Toshiba or Lenovo. Jump over to the other side for the full meat.

With the Nokia World ’09 and the IFA ’09, we have been treated to quite a few nice hefty pieces of gadget goodness. Out of that goodness comes the Booklet 3G, the N900 and the X6. Forget the X3 because it really is very forgettable. It is the poor cousin of the X6, which is where the true money lies.
The Booklet 3G is not a new development. It was declared back in the last week of August and this time round the only new thing about it are the specifications. The N900 was also known to be coming ever since it was officially announced at the end of August and the rumors and spy shots preceded the announcement as usual. Thus, technically the X6 is the newest piece of news of the lot. This round up is meant to bring you up to date on these three things from Nokia. Jump to the other side for videos, specifications and more.

As the soft light of dawn shone brightly on the new line of super cheap, super weak and super portable computers, the shining logo of Intel’s Atom processor on all of them warded off any notion that AMD and VIA stood a chance in the netbook segment.
Sometime late morning, the Gateway LT3103u shows up at the gates of the netbook sanctuary and challenges all Intel Atom based netbooks with its AMD Athlon 64 L110 processor. Can it survive the onslaught of such a well-established processor that has gone unchallenged for so long? Find out on the other side.

Asus has shown an interest in making gaming rigs and its offerings so far have been fairly decent. Asus created the Republic of Gamers line of computers quite some time back. This series focuses on the sheer power required for high-end gaming and also on the aesthetics preferred by gamers. When I say aesthetics, do realize that I am mainly referring to cool graphics and backlit decals. Of course, I totally fall for those exact things myself so I do understand why things like AlienFX from Alienware matter as much as they do (and why people shudder when they see AlienFX on the Dell XPS line).
The new Asus G51VX-A1 is part of the Republic of Gamers line of machines and hence has the RoG logo displayed prominently on the lid right under the Asus logo. It has nice graphics (in both senses) and a great build quality. However, if you want a decent configuration for gaming, you will have to fork out sums to the tune of $1,700. Does that sound like your budget exactly? Read on to find out for yourself.

The Dell Studio 14z is the perfect laptop for students who want something solid below $1000. The 14z is meant to be an all round performance laptop and in this regard it lives up to the expectations. The 14z is also probably the thinnest and lightest 14-inch notebook that Dell has ever made. It is also meant to have a long battery life but you will need to cut back n performance to achieve that. It does lack an optical drive but these days that is not a deterrent at all.
Read on if you are in the market for a sub $1000 laptop with a $649 entry point that is a solid all round performer and perfect for students.

The Lenovo G550 is a great laptop if you want to go for something that is functional and affordable. The G530, its previous version, was quite well received. It remains to be seen how well the masses react to its update.
The main noticeable difference is screen aspect ratio, which is now 16:9 instead of the 16:10 that was found on the G530. However, more than the screen aspect ratio the focus here is on performance because this is supposed to be a value for money series of laptops.
Are you in the market for a good sub $600 laptop? Read on and see if the G550 from Lenovo floats your boat.
