What sets it apart from the rival products is its unique touchscreen LCD that offers web access. However, the number of web applications that can be accessed through its large LCD are limited. This device is likely to be pitted against HP’s newly launched All-in One TouchSmart Printer.

The Platinum Pro905’s LCD can perform various other tasks than accessing the web. It can be programmed to start a sequence of events at a single touch. The Web access feature has its limitations though. For making it work, the MFP must be installed as a part of an active Ethernet connection. Connecting it to a PC over USB port would not do.

It is quite obvious that Lexmark has made this device keeping the needs of the business users in mind. It supports some varieties of media cards like SD card, Memory Stick, XD-Picture card etc. It can also be connected to Pict Bridge compliant digital cameras. To avail the 5 year Warranty offered by Lexmark the buyers need to register the product within 3 months of purchase. To woo the business users, Lexmark has kept the cost of cartridges on the lower side. The Printer offers reasonably good text printing performance. Its printing speed is average for its category.
