The design of computer keyboards has not change much in the last decade. There were tries from companies like Microsoft or Logitech to establish ergonomic keywords but only a minority of users has ever come in contact with them. If you have tried an ergonomic keyboard like the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic keyboard you may have noticed that it does not feel that natural to use during the first minutes. This can be really frustrating especially if there is no training period involved.

There are keyboard manufacturers that take these keyboard designs to the next level. While they might be the most ergonomic keyboards in the world they are probably to alien to be of any use. Developer Maltron is offering several computer keyboards that have been designed for special needs.
Their single handed keyboards for example can be used with just one hand. Even looking at them makes us feel dizzy though. Versions for left and right hand users are available.

Another Maltron keyboard is the ergonomic dual handed keyboard which looks fun to play with.

Finally there is the mouth stick keyboard which has been designed for users without hands

Then we have got the Safetype keyboard from another keyboard manufacturer. The idea is to use a more relaxed position for the hands and arms while using the keyboard. There will definitely be a frustrating migration period for users trying to work with this keyboard. It does look like you have to move the hand around quite a bit if you want to press the keys in the middle.

The Frogpad is another strange looking computer keyboard for one hand use. It seems to be missing some keys, take a look at the picture. If you love sending SMS this keyboard might be right for you.

Then we have the datahand which looks more like a gaming controller than a computer keyboard. We had some difficulties finding the keys on that keyboard.

The Orbitouch on the other hand is a keyless keyboard. That concept alone makes us quite dizzy.

The Evolution keyboard comes with an interesting set of gadgets that have been attached to the computer keyboard.

Fingerstream Touchstream LP is a combination of a computer keyboard and mouse.

The Combimouse, another keyboard mouse combination that feels rather awkward.

The wearable keyboard (with a cable connection). how much sense does it make to create a wearable keyboard that has to be connected by cable to a computer system? It might make sense when used with mobile computer systems though.

Have any other computer keyboards to share? Let us know in the comments.
