The race is on, and once again are ATI and NVIDIA fighting for the title of the world’s fastest video card. NVIDIA claims that the title belongs to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 which they have introduced just a few days ago. And while there are not any third party benchmark reviews available just yet, its specs impress.
The new GeForce GTX 580 clocks at 772MHz with 1.5 Gigabytes of GDDR5 memory cloked at 4008MHz, capable of a throughput of 192.4 GB/s. It features 512 CUDA cores and promises less noise and heat by using a new cooling design that makes use of a vapor thermal chamber.
NVIDIA confirmed that the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 is quieter than the GTX 480 and the GTX 285. The difference to the GTX 480 is about 5 Decibels when playing high-end games.
