So Sony is dressing up before going out to the PMA 2010 trade show that will soon take place in Las Vegas. This is the place to check out the latest things in the Imaging industry and even though Canon said they won’t be in attendance, Sony has a brand new product lined up for release at the event.
This is the DSC-TX5 waterproof point and shoot camera that is stuffed with features. It is first of all completely water proof for regular use. That means you can take it with you while kayaking and skinny dipping but don’t try deep sea diving with it. It has a 10fps burst mode, 4x optical zoom and the ever so handy image stabilization. There’s a also a special mode for reducing the noise that is the bane of shooting in high ISO sensitivities.
But it doesn’t end there. This little thing can actually shoot 1080p video in MPEG-4. It is also said to be capable of 1080i/ 60fps AVCHD but nothing’s clear yet. On the storage front, it just might store things on SD cards, which will really be a cause for jubilations.

As mentioned earlier, it is expected to be launched at PMA 2010. Keep your eyes peeled. If you have been in the market for a decent general purpose point and shoot, you might really like the DSC-TX5, whose brand name is unknown at this point. It looks pretty sleek and the water proofing makes it ideal for going clubbing, fishing, etc. with it.
