Casio Introduces Exilim EX-G1: A Rugged Digital Camera With Multiple Shock Resistance

While the affordable entry level digital cameras take acceptable photos in daylight and normal lighting, they can not match the quality offered by the professional level DSLRs. Besides, they can not be used in extreme weather conditions. The lens and other parts of a conventional digital camera are very sensitive to elements like sand and water and this makes them unfit to be used in places like mountains and forests.

To address the limitation of entry level digital cameras some companies like Panasonic and Olympus have introduced a range of rugged and robust built cameras that can survive accidents and abuse to an extent. With its newly released Exilim EX-G1, Casio has joined the bandwagon of ruggedized digital cameras. The company claims that this sleek looking camera can resist accidental drops and water. It can be used underwater up to a depth of 10 feet and it can survive a drop from 7 feet. At just 0.78 inch, It could turn out to be the slimmest waterproof and shock resistant camera as well.

The camera’s exterior is built of Stainless steel while the interior is made of polycarbonate toughened with fibreglass. The camera look flashy and stylish. Its user interface is similar to the other models in the Exilim series. The Exilim EX-G1 has decent photo shooting features including automatic mode selection and its intuitive interface makes it easy to use. It supports video recording with a resolution of 848×480 at 30FPS. The price of the Exilim EX-G1 has been set at $299.95 in the USA.
