What you read in the title is completely true folks. Sony is actually making a computing device that is lower than the $300 mark. Gosh, I knew the company was desperate but this really proves it. They want to best the Kindle in the e-Reader market, they want to build iPad competing devices, they want make iPhone-killer smartphones and now they want to compete with Asus’ Eee PC’s! This might get ugly — I don’t think Sony even remembers how to make and sell cheap devices successfully.

After it was hurriedly and poorly announced only yesterday, the Atom N470 has been found to be powering a new convertible touch netbook from Gigabyte. This netvertible belongs to the ToucNote series and is called the T1000. <Insert obligatory Terminator joke here>. No relationship to a superintelligent A.I. network called SkyNet has been found. We are looking into the matter. Read on for specs.

See here, when you are making a copy of a famous product, you might as well make something that is capable of running the original software as well, right? Yeah, that’s what I thought. It is the first rule in the “Fakers’ 101″ handbook. So anyway, you have all been looking at the MacBook Air fakes from Chinese makers ever since Steve Jobs pulled that thing out of an envelope. Now see one of them running the OS X.
Yes, if you have ever wondered about it, now you have you answer. Yes, some of them apparently can run the full OS X in all its glory. Isn’t that simply… umm… yeah, slightly meh. Still, these cheap fakes are really… cheap, they are thinner than competing netbooks and some have a larger screen. So if you can hack your way into making one run OS X for you, things are all the merrier.
This version however is a netbook sold by an entity that is currently flying under the Apple radar. They are asking for your credit card number and even though the price is $325 (man that’s a cheap Hackintosh), losing your money and identity may not be worth it you know. Just look from a distance and appreciate the many hours it must’ve taken to make this thing work.
The ‘HackBook Air’ video can be found on the other side. If you have a hackintosh you would like to show off, please do so by all means in the comments section! If yours is really good, it gets covered in a separate post dedicated to it. How about that?!

That’s right folks, the memory makers with a creepy head in their logo — Kingston — have a new SSD in their SSDNow V+ line that is going for as little as $80. Since when did SSDs become so cheap you ask? I mean, Google hasn’t even released the Chrome OS yet (it is supposed to help bring the prices down). Well, SSDs are still not cheap, you are just getting a small capacity, cheapo SSD that is much speedier that an HDD but not as fast as the higher-end stuff. So how small is the capacity?

I have mentioned the Entourage eDGe dualbook device pretty often around these parts and that is mainly because it has been going from a prototype of a great idea to a great product in good time. The idea of combining the best of a netbook and an eBook reader has paid of very well for the company. We, the tech press, have shown it a lot of love as well. It made its official debut at CES last week and that has worked really well for it even though there were a lot of other e-readers to compete with. It has the unique advantage of the only one of its kind — a dualbook.
