This netbook is a 12.1 inch device that has a pivotal screen that twists and turns in order to cover the keyboard and become a tablet. You know, those older tablets when there were no iPhones or Androids. But it looks like there is a still a place in the professional market for these really pricey convertibles that are purely utilitarian and go for power instead of portability.

Yes it is a run for the acquisition these days for the two big Giants of the tech world — Google and Apple. Both of a lot of great ideas and they both lack the patience and the opportunity to  sit down and develop on those ideas. While the name will remind people of certain fictitious alien robots that change shape, NVIDIA’s Optimus technology is something that works on improving graphics performance on notebooks without straining the battery. The basic premise of this technology is that it switches between integrated and full blown graphics options as required and it does it at a hardware level. This basically means you are not frying your battery while simply editing a text document. Smaller graphics needs are handled by the integrated chip and the games are handled by the dedicated part. Asus has decided to use this technology in their latest consumer multimedia notebook — the N71JV-X1. They still can’t be bothered to come up with names that people can remember. Specs follow.

Lenovo has updates its notebook offerings with two new G series models — the G445 and the G555. These models are imbued with the powers of the latest products from the house of AMD.
