Razer Announces Full Mac Support For All (Existing And) Future Models

Razer has finally gotten around to making Mac drivers for all its upcoming accessories. They announced this at the ongoing GDC (Games Developer Conference). Existing customers won’t be left out in the cold either. They have also committed to making OS X drivers all their existing accessories so that they can be used as easily on Macs as on PCs. And this announcement comes only days after Valve announced that Steam will be available for Macs, along with all the gaming goodness that Steam is known for.

That’s right, the combination of Intel’s Atom an NVIDIA’s ION is the perfect combination that gives you extremely low prices and pretty high performance. And things just got better too, thanks to NVIDIA finally getting around to making the ION 2 official. We are already seeing the ION 2 pop up on several devices and here we have something that should please anyone who is looking for a slim, stylish (relatively), quite and powerful rig to use as an HTPC. Games Developer Conference [GDC] Dedicates Entire Summit To iPhone Games [iPhone] [Gaming]

The GDC (Games Developer Conference) is an extremely important conference for game developers everywhere. It has a long-ish history of holding these conferences for covering every possible aspect of game development for all conceivable platforms. They usually hold two days of ‘Summits’ before the main set of keynote addresses and other things start happening. Within those summits, there is the GDC Mobile summit which discusses every mobile platform there is. This included the iPhone up until the last time. But this year they have dedicated an entire summit to the iPhone, making it clear that the platform is now a major mobile gaming platform.

Asus Uses NVIDIA Optimus In New N71 Notebook [Notebooks]

While the name will remind people of certain fictitious alien robots that change shape, NVIDIA’s Optimus technology is something that works on improving graphics performance on notebooks without straining the battery. The basic premise of this technology is that it switches between integrated and full blown graphics options as required and it does it at a hardware level. This basically means you are not frying your battery while simply editing a text document. Smaller graphics needs are handled by the integrated chip and the games are handled by the dedicated part. Asus has decided to use this technology in their latest consumer multimedia notebook — the N71JV-X1. They still can’t be bothered to come up with names that people can remember. Specs follow.

Sony Playstation 3 Will Get 3D Updates

3D movies and games seem to be the next big thing coming in the next years both to theaters but also private homes. Needed for 3D playback are a device that is compatible with 3D movies and a TV that supports that as well.

Sony Playstation 3 owners will be happy that the PS3 will receive two 3D updates in this year that will make it capable of playing 3D movies and 3D games, something that many other hardware players are not capable of delivering through firmware updates.

According to Alienware the Alienware M11X is the most powerful sub 12″ gaming laptop in the world. The M11X is powered by a Core2Duo and a 1 Gigabyte Nvidia 335 graphics card which provides enough power to play games like Crysis or Call of Duty in the laptop’s native 1366×768 resolution.

ATI Mobility Radeon 5870 And 5650 Performance [DirectX 11]

AMD ATI is currently the only company offering DirectX 11 capable video cards. To further that lead over rival NVIDIA the first set of mobility Radeon video cards with DirectX 11 capabilities have been introduced by AMD ATI. The first two video cards showcased by ATI are the ATI Mobility Radeon 5870 and 5650 video card which are both compared to ATI 4870 and 4650 video cards but also to NVIDIA’s GTX 280M and GT240M cards.
