PS3 aficionados everywhere, there’s some bad news for those of you who were looking forward to playing games in glorious stereoscopic 3D-view at 1080p HD. Sony has restricted stereoscopic games from being any higher than 720p. This is to ensure to a higher overhead for processing and to ensure a quality gaming experience for the user.

The iPad represents the next generation of mobile gaming and I am not exaggerating one bit when I am saying that. Just keep in mind that the iPad is just the forerunner of a whole new generation of consumer computer devices that will likely replace the current device of choice for casual computer users. Handheld gaming has always been a niche thing compared to the vast market penetration of general computer devices like the laptop and the netbook. Even the smartphone for that matter, has been in more hands than handheld gaming devices. And this was before the iPhone showed up.

These are new video cards from Asus that are based on the GTX 480/7470 GPS made by NVIDIA. These use the GeForce Fermi chip and the ENGTX480 has the GTX480 core, 1401 stream processors and a 384-bit memory interface. The Engtx470 has 1215 stream processors. Asus actually had already leaked the box art for these cards ands hence you may be excused if you feel that you are not seeing something new.

Razer has finally gotten around to making Mac drivers for all its upcoming accessories. They announced this at the ongoing GDC (Games Developer Conference). Existing customers won’t be left out in the cold either. They have also committed to making OS X drivers all their existing accessories so that they can be used as easily on Macs as on PCs. And this announcement comes only days after Valve announced that Steam will be available for Macs, along with all the gaming goodness that Steam is known for.

The GDC (Games Developer Conference) is an extremely important conference for game developers everywhere. It has a long-ish history of holding these conferences for covering every possible aspect of game development for all conceivable platforms. They usually hold two days of ‘Summits’ before the main set of keynote addresses and other things start happening. Within those summits, there is the GDC Mobile summit which discusses every mobile platform there is. This included the iPhone up until the last time. But this year they have dedicated an entire summit to the iPhone, making it clear that the platform is now a major mobile gaming platform.
