After it was hurriedly and poorly announced only yesterday, the Atom N470 has been found to be powering a new convertible touch netbook from Gigabyte. This netvertible belongs to the ToucNote series and is called the T1000. <Insert obligatory Terminator joke here>. No relationship to a superintelligent A.I. network called SkyNet has been found. We are looking into the matter. Read on for specs.

For a long time now, actually ever since Apple released the latest iMacs, the largest of the crop have been plagued by display issues. There were flickers and there were tinting issues where displays simply started look like they have Jaundice. Apple of course was tight-lipped about the whole thing and a lot of speculations were flying around. But now it seems like the company is confident enough to issue one of its rare public statements that admit to a fault.

Dell is apparently making more tablets. I cannot think of a situation where that will be productive or useful but it is important news nonetheless, so I’ma let you have it.
So we’ve all been hearing about the Dell Mini 5 right? Yeah, it is that MID that is caught in between being to big to be a phone and too damn small to be a proper modern tablet. It is just Dell’s feel good device — we made one! And now it is about to get siblings. Yay?

Well, in what seems like yet another tired old don’t-tell-me-them-too piece of news — Nintendo has announced that they are putting eBooks in their latest offering — the Nintendo DSi XL. However, if the company is to be believed, they are not really serious about entering the e-book market in a big way. They are just adding value to their product. But that doesn’t really stop it from being a serious competitor now, does it? Continue reading “Nintendo DSi XL Becomes The Latest To Offer e-Books, Here We Go Again? [E-Readers]” »

A new iPhone related patent has been unearthed and even though it is from the year 2008, it shows a feature that hasn’t been implemented in any way in on the iPhone. Hence it has sparked talks of this patent being utilized in some future version of the iPhone. The patent is about using the camera to recognize additional finger swipes. It simply means that instead of swiping their fingers only over the touchscreen, users might be swiping them over the camera at the back as well. The use of something like this? Quite a few actually and they are all very practical.

Before I begin today’s deluge of tech updates, just let me say that it feels really great to be back. The large gap in the interim has been due to a gosh darned infection in my throat that kept temperature a steady 100ºC. Well, at least now I have something to tell people who I am not consistent! Anyhoo, now I am back and champing at the bits to go. So lets begin!
Steve Jobs has made the headlines again but this time is a more indirect manner. You see, if you remembered correctly, we had reported about an iTunes contest that was going on at Apple. It was about celebrating the 10 billionth iTunes song download and the 10 billionth downloader getting a whopping $10,000 iTunes gift card. Well, that has happened and the winner a 70 year old called Louie Sulcer, who was just buying some good ol’ country music.

It seems like Intel will be in attendance at Nokia’s press event at MWC (Mobile World Congress) tomorrow. The invitations that were sent out to the press had both Intel and Nokia’s logo on them, suggesting another joint announcement from the collaborators. Of course, the companies themselves are barely saying anything about the whole affair. The official word is that they will be updating everyone about their relationship status and then Nokia can move on to a solo event about what new thing it has done in recent times. But that is only the official word and that is as good as not saying anything at all.
