Kodak Zi8: HD In Your Pocket

July 29 2009 Categorized Under: Digital Cameras Tags; , , , , , , , No Commented

504x_Kodak_Zi8Kodak has released a new digital pocket camcorder that will record true HD video content in 1080p resolution. It is an obvious competitor of the Flip UltraHD. Kodak might easily over take Flip in this regard because  the Zi8 gives the user 1080p for the same price as the Flip UltraHD that only gives 720p.

For those who are unfamiliar with digital pocket camcorders – these are like camera mobiles with the mobile part taken out of them. So what you get essentially is a small sized pocket device that has a screen and a camera. These are eminently portable and are also capable of HD quality stills and videos. Kodak is about it make the HD part of it a whole lot better.

The selling point this class of camcorders is really simple. These are essentially shrunken versions of larger camcorders that come cheaper and allow you to have a video device in your pocket that has all the handy featured of a camera mobile with much better quality.

ASUS N90Sv: A Hulking Laptop

July 28 2009 Categorized Under: Entertainment, Gaming, Laptops Tags; , , , , , , , , , one Commented

the Asus N90Sv A2 AKA A1 AKA X1 (identity crisis anyone? The Asus N90Sv has three variations – the A1, A2 and X1. They all vary on one or two peripheral features like the X1 does not have a Blu-Ray Drive and has faster hard drives. Other than that, you will not notice much of a difference.

This is a multimedia laptop and it is definitely bigger than the some older desktop computers. That’s right, at 18.6 inches, this thing is huge. That is something that you should keep in mind when you are thinking about buying the laptop. It is definitely one of the largest laptops you will ever use and you are not going to be able to conceal it or make it discrete in anyway. Asus probably wasn’t thinking about that when they made this laptop.

Toshiba Satellite M505-S4940: A Hunk of Outdatedness that Sounds Great

The Toshiba Satellite M505-S4940 - if you can't memorise the model name either, join the club

This laptop is a really cheap move by Toshiba. Now do not get me wrong here, I like a cheap laptop as much as the next tech junkie. But this affordable offering from Toshiba is just stretching things a bit too much. There are many things that I can live with sacrificing for a lower price. Sadly the processor is not one of them. I do not know the logical reasoning behind releasing a laptop with an outdated processor but if I wanted a new car for cheap I’d rather go for one that looks hideous but has a great engine.
